Origin Stories
This sculpture was inspired by the story of a man who could transform himself into a bear by beating on a drum. The man found being in his bear form to be intoxicating, and each time he became a bear it became harder to return to the world of humans. So, to remind himself of his responsibilities to his family and community, whenever he transformed into a bear he held an image of his wife in his mind. (Bill Nasogaluak, as told to C. Arnold.)
