Shaman Helpers

Angatkut (shamans) mediated between our Ancestors' world and the spirit world. Nuligak (Bob Cockney) told about a time when people couldn’t hunt seals because the ocean had frozen over. They called upon two angatkuk, a husband and wife, for help. The shamans flew into the interior of the earth where they entered a lake with burning flames and serpent-like monsters. The next day the sea ice broke up and people could hunt seals again.
