Shamans
Many of Helen Kalvak’s drawings, including those that were reproduced as prints, are based on stories about traditional Inuinnait life.
“This drawing is the story of a shaman (Angakok) who went out to reclaim a person’s soul from another place. Long ago this was the way. When something happened to a person, the shaman would have to go out and look for the person’s soul.”
