Cape Kellett

Cape Kellett, a site on southwestern Banks Island, was inhabited by our Early (Thule) Inuit ancestors over a period of several hundred years between approximately 1200 and 1400 AD. At least nine igluryuit are present, winter houses made of sod and whale bone posts. The two largest houses were built by some of the very first Early Inuit to settle in Inuvialuit Nunangat. They hunted ringed and bearded seal, polar bear, whale, arctic fox, muskox, caribou and geese.
