Qikiqtaruk – Washout

Washout, located on Qikiqtaruk near Pauline Cove, was first inhabited about a thousand years ago by our Early (Thule) Inuit ancestors. They were among the first Inuit to arrive in what would become our Inuvialuit territory. At least three small rectangular sod houses were found here with weapons to hunt ringed seal and bowhead whales. The site no longer exists, having been washed out by Beaufort Sea storm surges.
