Rita-Claire

Like the nearby Bison Skull site, this caribou hunting site was used around the time the first Europeans were arriving in Inuvialuit Nunangat. Large numbers of caribou bones show that our ancestors butchered many caribou here over the years. They also built several small hearths, and made a line of 53 caribou skulls, perhaps to help funnel the caribou to a place where hunters could intercept them.
