Ullebuck and Tatanueck Interpret for Franklin

1800s–1900s

Accompanying the Bristish sailors were two Inuit from the Hudson's Bay region, Junius Ullebuk and Augustine Tataneuck, who were hired as interpreters. Although Junius and Augustine spoke a different dialect, they were able to communicate with the Inuvialuit.
